Minecraft Pocket Edition is an excellent game from Mojang Studios that gives the player the experience of the Minecraft world on the mobile platform. The developer of the game was purchased by Microsoft several years ago, and the game has only seen more success since then. This version of the game is a free demo that you can use on your Android device, and it comes with many of the same tools and functions as the full version for PC and consoles.
There are a few limitations to the free trial version. First, you only get half the available bricks to work with. This isn't a huge downside if you have never played the full version, but it can be a bit annoying to see all the other bricks and not be able to use them. However, with the 18 bricks that you do get to work with, you'll be able to build just about anything that you can imagine via the impressive touchscreen controls.
Perhaps the biggest downside of the demo version of this app is that you won't be able to save your creations between gaming sessions. That means anything you build will be lost as soon as you close the app. If you only want it to play around with the structure of the software and to kill some down time, this is fine, but if you hope to build anything of significant size or complexity that would require multiple sessions, you'll need to upgrade to the full version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
While the demo version is essentially the same as the full version, the differences make it worth upgrading for several reasons. Both the full version and the demo receive fairly consistent updates, so even the free version will get better as time goes on.
